In 1892, a goat emerged on the field as University of Georgia's first mascot. Soon after, "Shoot the billy-goat! " was shouted at the goat dressed in a black UG lettered jacket, a hat and ribbons attached to his horns. The jeers at the goat mascot lead to his demise in 1894. A solid white bulldog, which debuted as the new Georgia mascot, replaced the goat. Named from the initials of the University of Georgia, "Uga" is the current Georgia Bulldog. The 1992 "Uga", marks the centennial year of University of Georgia mascot history.
